Satellite Communications:   On-the-Move Mobility and Airborne platforms now require smaller & lighter solutions than traditional SSPA products serving the Ku & Ka-Band allocations. In addition, higher power and broader bandwidth applications are emerging for Solid State Power Amplifiers where traditionally TWT based amplifiers were used.

     New generation satellite requirements demand SSPA products offering a wide variety of “smart features” including; power, temperature, current and voltage sensors, two way communication ports, and remote power monitoring & gain settings. These SSPA features simplify and enhance system integration, performance, and reliability.
 
Radar:  A terrain following radar needs broad dynamic range for optimum receiver performance. Ideally the transmitter is turned-off between transmissions in order to maximize the receiver dynamic range. To enhance this performance new generation transmitters must be shut down in nano-second speed without generating white noise.

New (smaller & lighter) solutions have steered away from the traditional mechanical switches at the output of high power amplifiers and have moved towards integrated GaAs FET switches at the device level of the SSPA.

     The latest radar requirements demand SSPA products offering “smart” features to easily integrate the SSPA into a variety of system architectures. These features include; power, temperature, current and voltage sensors, two way communication ports, and remote power monitoring & gain settings. These SSPA features simplify and enhance system integration, performance, and reliability.
